Police K-9 Handler Instructor Training – Subject Control & Defensive Tactics in Pembroke Pines, Florida

This ISR Matrix Police K9 Handler Instructor Course is designed to provide alternative, optional and selective means of subject control and arrest tactics for a Police K-9 Handler. The aim is to be able to functionally engage with the subject and assist their K-9 in direct apprehension of the subject if becomes necessary. 

Participants will learn, train and demonstrate safe, morally and legally defensible defensive tactics to further stabilize, control and apprehend an actively resisting subject engaged with their K-9. 

All tactics shown and trained will offer participants the options to engage or disengage as needed and ability to readily escalate or de-escalate along the use of force spectrum as necessary.

* Duty Belt & Red Gun
*Comfortable training clothing. BDUs, t-shirts, cargo shorts, are all common.
*Disposable long sleeve t-shirt or BDU Jacket or martial arts jacket (gi) for grip and attachment work.
*Mouth guard & 14-16 OZ Boxing Gloves (no lightweight MMA gloves).
*Ample water bottles, training towels, several spare t-shirts (due to sweat). Fluids not allowed directly on mat.
*Wresting shoes or soft sole shoes that will not damage mats. Please only wear them in training area. Bring an extra pair of shoes to use before and after training.
*Small personal first aid kit containing tissues, band aids and antiseptic lotion to treat minor scratches.
*Sufficient snacks and hydrating fluids to last each day
**NO firearms, ammunition, knives, batons, OC or TASER unless by prior approval of course instructor.

Letter from the ISR Matrix President –

Unfortunately due to all the closures of local businesses for the foreseeable future in the Reno/Sparks area we will have to postpone this course. The current restrictions in this area are expected to last for approximately three weeks with the possibility to be extended.

We understand staffing can be an issue with departments so we want postpone the course to Monday, October 5th through Friday October 9th 2020. This pushes it far enough out to allow your agencies to prepare and make arrangements.

The ISR CIV/ PM – 2 Day Subject Control Course: Monday, November 5 & Tuesday, November 6, 2018 is open to civilians (18 years and up).

“The ISR Matrix; Beneath the Surface” – The Functional Integration of Morally and Legally Defensible Tactics & Strategy through the Use of Force Continuum.
This year’s summit  will build on our foundation of subject control (day 1 & 2) and firearm retention (day 3) and then be integrated directly into our close quarter defense curriculum with the Clutch System (Day 4 and 5) for two days of its close quarter fighting and weapon/ tool transitions approach. We will also showcase its counter knife and defensive blade module into that material and re-integrate that module right back into our subject control and retention work from the previous days.

*NOTE: Now open to civilians and instructors seeking self-defense & personal protection instruction. The ISR Matrix Clutch – 5 day course.

Due to the amount of instructors currently registered for the US Summit, we will be dividing the training sessions between civilians and Leo as we did at our recent European Summit in Iceland.

Monday, November 5th: 8:30am-4:00pm – Subject Control (open to civilians)
Tuesday, November 6th: 9:00am-4:00pm – Subject Control (open to civilians)
Wednesday, November 7th: 9:00am-4:00pm – Firearm Retention
Thursday, November 8th: 9:00am-4:00pm – Intro to the Clutch CQB System / Phase 1 H2H
Friday, November 9th: 9:00am-4:00pm – Clutch System’s Counter Knife & Defensive Blade

Required Training Equipment:

MMA gloves

Plastic Training Knife/ blade (preferably soft/pliable)

16 Ounce Boxing Gloves

Mouth Piece

Training Jacket or Gi Top

Change of Shirts (several clean t-shirts)

Duty Belt

Training Gun (Plastic/ Rubber) & appropriate holster

Bottled Water (No sugar drinks)

*Note: Civilians must clear a background check from their local Police Department to attend. ($25 fee)

Preparation
The course will involve light to moderate contact and consistent physical activity. That said, we will work within your capabilities and limitations to best achieve your training and learning goals.

Meal breaks
There will be several short meal breaks per day. Water breaks and rest breaks throughout the training sessions will be dependent on individual and group fitness levels and physical exertion.

Video and Photography
Video and photography is not permitted due to the personal security requirements of some participants. There may be exceptions made for short periods of time during certain components of the program with the consent of all course participants and instructors.

Pre-Summit Reading
While not essential, it is highly suggested that Participants read some of the articles, reviews and interviews related to ISR Matrix in order to become familiar with the terminology and training methods. The numerous videos and training footage available on our website and on line via YouTube will also bring some insight into the training experience all participants working with the ISR Matrix go through.

Evaluations & Promotions
Certification for competent training hours will be issued for those who successfully complete their training. Please note that a specific set minimum of competent training hours is required to be eligible for testing as an ISR Matrix Subject Control Instructor. Those with the required experience level and time training will be awarded their Subject Control Instructorship Certification.

Medical Declaration & Training Waiver: Participants will be required to complete a medical declaration/injury form and liability waiver prior to commencement of training.
